Our fertile soil and modern greenhouses serve as a home for our fresh herbs and fruit used in our restaurant and sold in supermarkets. The Huguenots planted vines as the terroir was perfectly suited to the production of wine. Our herb production consists of 33 hydroponic tunnels as well as a net house and from these structures over 1.2 tons of herbs are harvested each week. Known to be one of the oldest farms in the area with an eventful past. Our fertile soils and ideal location helps produce high quality fruit for global markets. In excess of 80 hectares of fruit are grown on the estate and we are one of the biggest producers of Sharon fruit (Persimmons) in the Western Cape. After purchasing the estate in 1999 the Dauphins consulted with Gundel and Emil Sogor, two talented German artists, to transform the estate, introducing striking works of art that add character to the historic Cape estate. The Dauphins re-introduced vines to complement the existing herbs and fruits, allowing Allée Bleue to fulfill its long-hidden potential. Known to be one of the oldest wine farms in the area, Allée Bleue has had an eventful past, yet was, until recently, one of the undiscovered jewels of the Cape Winelands.
