While involvement in the Cape wine industry first took place in 1946, it became a priority in 1972 when Darryl Simpson joined his father in the business. In 1993, Peter Peck, a qualified winemaker who grew up on a Stellenbosch wine farm, acquired equity and today still holds the position of Sales Director. Relocation to Paarl took place in 2001 and in 2006 synergy was sought by merging with a competitor (VINTEC) owned by the HG Moolenaar Group and in so doing CDSVINTEC was formed in In 2013 the Moolenaar Group wanted to focus on their existing core businesses and Darryl Simpson was planning his retirement after 41 years, thus creating the opportunity for new shareholders to purchase their respective shareholdings. CDSVINTEC have been actively involved in the supply of consumable items and capital goods used in the supply chain for the Wine Grape Sorting, Winery Processing as well as the Beverage Filling & Packaging industries for almost 50 years, in many instances still working with the original suppliers. Nowadays our footprint includes other industries and/or markets such as MCC processing, Craft Beer production, Olive Oil processing and also a growing presence outside the alcoholic beverage industry for filling and packaging solutions. We also supply measuring equipment, small volume bulk storage containers, cooling and measuring systems, oak barrels & containers, prefabricated cement tanks for wine storage & ageing, wine yeasts & other additives, bottle storage options and cellar door accessories. Working with selected service suppliers and other professionals, we also provide project management services for turnkey projects in the industries wherein we operate. Our workshop is responsible for the installation, commissioning, warranty and service requirements of all the Capital Equipment we supply. While we conduct most of our business in the wine producing areas of the Western, Southern & Northern Cape, we also supply and service many clients with processing plants elsewhere in South Africa and Africa.
